Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This occasion offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
